On July 4th, 1776, the founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence. This officially declared that the thirteen colonies were now legally separated from Great Britain, gaining independence and finally freed from the British rule. That's pretty cool, huh?
The Declaration of Independence states three basic ideas:
God made all men equal and gave them the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
The main business of government is to protect these rights.
If a government tried to withhold these rights, the people are free to revolt and set up a new government.
Now, each year all of America joins in to celebrate with cookouts, parties, and of course, the obligatory fireworks! It's a holiday worth celebrating for sure, but for me personally, I don't celebrate this day because it necessarily makes me feel free and fulfilled. I celebrate because I know men and women that fight for this country and even though I feel the ol' US of A is not in the best state at the moment, it's still worth fighting for and celebrating.
Land of the free-yeah, maybe, but home of the brave-absolutely!!!
Thank God, I'm Free
Galatians 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Chains...Those dang chains held me in bondage for far too long. My shame and sin broke me down. It was a never-ending game of cat and mouse with me and God for many years of my life. How could he forgive me?? How could I possibly be free?? I was so undeserving and still am. I am just a broken woman out here in the "free" world battling sin each and every day. Even on my very best days, I don't even come close to deserving all God has given me and freed me from.
He broke every chain, he walked straight through every stronghold I had on my life and not only rescued me others that were hurting me, but rescued me from myself as well. Yes, honey, sometimes we need to be rescued from ourselves. We allow anxiety to rule our lives. We allow depression to sneak in and take over our minds. We are so quick to compare our lives to others, don't y'all know that is the theif of joy?? I would say that God has to rescue me more from myself these days than anything else.
John 8:36 says "So if the son sets you free you will be free indeed."
Guilt is so heavy. We create our own prison and set up camp there. We become prisoners of our past and maybe even our present by not fully giving all we are over to Jesus. God designed us to reflect Him and His word, we simply can't do that while living in bondage. We can't give all we are over to Jesus while still carrying the weight of those shackles. It's time to shake em' off, sis!!
To be completely free in the name of Jesus, you must pray for a breakthrough, lay it all down at His feet and not only have faith he's gonna take care of business, you gotta KNOW IT!!
Romans 8:2 "For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death."
Here's What I Know
Listen, I don't know much about much, but I do know this with my whole entire heart and with absolute certianty: True freedom comes from Christ and Christ alone. It's really just that simple. God can free you from your past and turn your whole life around. You just have to let him do it and know he's got this!!
America needs Jesus, the whole world does, let it start with you!
Ephesians 3:12 When we trust in Him, we're free to say whatever needs to be said, bold to go wherever we need to go.
Happy 4th friends, may God bless you and yours!!
Let's give praise to the one and only true King;
For it is in Him and Him alone that freedon will truly ring.
Forever Free,
Michelle
