Miracles

You ever need a miracle?  Like right now?  Like a big one?

Or maybe it was just a small one? Perhaps it was so small that you were almost ashamed to pray for it because other people had more significant miracles that they needed more than you needed yours.

I’ve been in both phases lately, big and small. I think most of us are, most of the time. I currently have a prayer journal listing several things I am praying for, such as healing in certain lives, job interventions, and the futures of family, to name a few.

Have you seen your miracle unfold and God bring it to light?  God has brought so many miracles I have prayed for in front of my eyes; He has moved mountains out of the way for me without ever having to do a thing, simply because I stayed on my knees and prayed through it.  But also, He has opened doors along the way while I am working on something too.

In Luke 1:37 the angel Gabriel tells Mary that “For no word from God will ever fail.”

In John 11:40 Jesus is talking to Martha, Lazarus’ sister and He is getting ready to raise him from the dead.  He says, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”

He Never Fails

God has never failed me.  Yet I still doubt sometimes.   And for that, I am ashamed.

If we truly believe in Jesus’ name, nothing is impossible.  Matthew 19:26 “Jesus looked at them and said, With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

There’s something on my heart right now, something only He can do, I believe. I want only Him to do it, yet I get a nudge that I will also have to do my part. Ugh, I really, really want Him to do this.

This morning in my Bible Study, I was led to this scripture in Luke 39-46:  “Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed Him.  On reaching the place, He said to them, pray that you will not fall into temptation. He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down, and prayed.  Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done. An angel from heaven appeared to Him and strengthened Him. And being in anguish, He prayed more earnestly, and His sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.  When He rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, He found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow.  Why are you sleeping? He asked them. Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”

Jesus felt complete anguish; my Jesus was about to die for me.  For me!  For you!  For us!  He wanted God to take this from Him if it was His will. Was there not another way?  He was so upset and praying so hard that he was sweating drops of blood.  He was sent to be the example for us to follow.

So this thing I need to do seems so tiny now. If God is telling me to do something, I need to go do it, no matter the anguish or fear it may cause me. Because in the end, the miracle will be greater than I can imagine. The prayer will be answered in God’s will, His time, His healing, His works.

Look for Yours

Miracles are God’s way of demonstrating love for us through His power and purpose.  He parted the Red Sed; He sent manna from Heaven and saved Daniel in the lion’s den, among so many others.   And Jesus, well, the Son of God turned water into wine, walked on water, fed thousands with just a few loaves of bread and some fish from a boy, healed so, so, many people, raised Lazarus from the Dead, Resurrected himself on the third day after his crucifixion and ascended into Heaven to name a few miracles.  In my life, I can write a book on all the miracles He has done for me, too, and maybe one day I will.  I hope you can also write yours down and keep counting them and asking for them.  I know I am never going to stop.

Thank you, Father, for your Miracles,

Erica
